The High Court (HC) on Monday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why "Joy Bangla" should not be declared as the national slogan.
The HC bench of Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and Mahmudullah issued the rule following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Dr Bashir Ahmed.
Cabinet secretary, secretary to the law and justice division and education secretary have been made respondents to the rule.
Advocate Dr Bashir said the court will send the copy of the rule to the respondents while the court has fixed December 10 as the date for next hearing.
