Nasreen Huq murder: One sentenced to life imprisonment
A Dhaka court has sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for the murder of human rights activist Nasreen Huq. The convict is Zakir Hossain. Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge of court no 4 pronounced the verdict on Thursday. The court also fined the convict Tk20,000. Nasreen Huq, former country director of Action Aid died on April 24, 2006 at the parking lot of her Dhanmondi residence after being hit by the car which was supposed to pick her up for the Action Aid office. Nasreen's husband filed a case with Dhanmondi police station accusing car driver Zakir of killing Nasreen by reckless driving.
