A Dhaka court has granted bail to Mehboob Chowdhury, CEO mobile phone operator Citycell, on Sunday afternoon after he was produced before the court by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
He had been detained in the airport area in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon for allegedly embezzling Tk348.5 crore that had been taken as a bank loan for Citycell.
ACC Deputy Director Sheikh Abdus Salam, investigation officer of the case, produced Mehboob before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lashkar Sohel Rana and requested the court to place him in prison, but the court rejected it.
