A Sylhet court has yet again deferred the hearing on charge framing in the blogger and online activist Ananta Bijoy Das murder case since three of the six accused are still on the run.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha on Tuesday came up with move, fixing July 16 for charge hearing.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Mafur Ali said the court on May 23 had set on Tuesday for the charge framing hearing.
“But, the judge reset the date of hearing as three of the accused are yet to be arrested. The judge also ordered the police to arrest and produce them before the court on July 16,” he said.
On May 9, the court had accepted the supplementary charge sheet pressed by CID against the six accused.
Secularist writer Ananta Bijoy Das, also an activist of Sylhet Gonojagoron Moncho, was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subidbazar Bankalapara in Sylhet city on May 12, 2015. A case was filed in this connection the same day.
