The Appellate Division has stayed the bail granted to war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s lawyer barrister Fakhrul Islam.
The four-member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order Thursday on an appeal filed by the state.
Barrister Fakhrul, who was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in a verdict leak case, secured one-year bail from a High Court bench on Tuesday.

Four others were also sentenced to different terms by the Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal in September last year for their involvement in stealing data from the war crimes tribunal chairman’s computer. Salauddin’s wife and son were acquitted.
Fakhrul was also fined Tk1 crore for masterminding the act of theft in September, 2013, couple of days before the International Crimes Tribunal was set to deliver the verdict.
Salauddin was executed at the Dhaka Central Jail on November 22 last year on completion of his legal battle in the war crimes case.

According to the case, Salauddin’s family spent a large sum of money to steal the draft verdict and upload it on different websites to make the trial process controversial.
