Police have pressed charges against national cricketer Arafat Sunny in a case filed by his wife under the ICT Act.
Mohammadpur police Sub-Inspector Mohammad Yahia, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman Thursday.
General Recording Officer Sub-Inspector Md Nizam Uddin confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune.
On March 15, Sunny got permanent bail in the case after his wife Nasrin Sultana told the court that they had settled the disputes.
According to the case lodged on January 5, Sunny posted their intimate pictures on social media without her consent. Sunny was arrested on January 22.
Nasrin earlier lodged a general diary over the matter on December 25, 2016.
She filed two more cases against Sunny and his mother for demanding Tk20 lakh as dowry and torturing her.
According to the cases, Sunny got married to Nasrin on December 4, 2014 with an endowment of Tk5.1 lakh and they used to live at the house of Nasrin’s sister in Katasur area of Mohammadpur.
On July 29, 2015, Sunny and his mother demanded Tk20 lakh as dowry from Nasrin and asked her to bring the money from her father. As Nasrin refused to pay the money, Sunny ditched her, she alleged.
