HC issues contempt rule against JU registrar
The High Court has issued a contempt of court ruling against Jahangirnagar University's Registrar Abu Bakar Siddique for not allowing a teacher to join work despite a previous court order. Justice Md Rezaul Hasan and Justice Kashefa Hussain's bench gave the order on Tuesday after hearing a contempt of court petition filed recently by Associate Professor Sayeda Fahnija. Fahnija was removed from office on December 19, 2009. She challenged her removal in the High Court which ruled in her favour on August 29 last year. In her contempt of court petition, she accused Registrar Siddique of not allowing her to join office despite last year's High Court order. The court has asked Siddique to furnish a reply within two weeks explaining why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him.
