High Court wants to observe Oishee Rahman's mental state

Update : 03 Apr 2017, 04:45 PM
The High Court says it wants to observe the mental state of Oishee Rahman, who murdered her parents in 2013. Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain's bench on Monday ordered the inspector general of prisons to produce Oishee before the bench on April 10. Special branch inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman were found murdered at their Malibagh home on August 16, 2013. A Dhaka court sentenced Oishee to death on November 12, 2015. The High Court bench issued the order during hearing of the death reference and Oishee's appeal against the verdict. Her lawyer claimed that his client was suffering from mental disorder at the time of the murder. However, Judge Sayeed Ahmed of the Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 had observed that Oishee killed her parents cold blood and that the murder was thoroughly planned.
