Court issues arrest warrant against 12 BNP leaders and activists
A Dhaka court issued arrest warrants for 12 BNP leaders and activists including ward-level BNP leaders Saiful Alam Nirob, Azizul Bari Helal and Meer Sharafat Ali Safu. The warrant was issued on Sunday in connection to a case filed with Dhaka's Mohammadpur police station in 2015. Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla passed the order after accepting a charge sheet against 17 BNP men including the 12 accused in the case filed under the Explosive Substances Act. The court also directed the police station to submit a report before the court on the execution of this arrest warrant by May 28. Out of 17, five of the accused in this case including Amanullah Aman and Habib-Un-Nabi Khan Sohel are on bail. According to the charges against the 12 BNP leaders and activists, the miscreants tried to kill police by exploding cocktails in Mohammadpur area during the BNP-led alliance’s hartal and blockade programme on February 3, 2015. Later on October 5, 2015, police submitted a charge sheet against 17 BNP leaders and activists including Amanullah Aman, Habibun-Nabi-Khan Sohel, Saiful Alam Nirob, Azizul Bari helal and Mir Sharafat Ali Safu.
