Sagar-Runi murder: Court wants progress report from RAB by March 21

Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam passed the order on Wednesday as Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohiuddin Ahamed, the investigation officer of the case, failed to submit the probe report within the given time. Earlier, the court had fixed dozens of dates in the last five years asking the elite force to submit the probe report. But the IO has always sought time. Journalist Sagar Sarowar and his wife Meherun Runi were killed at their West Rajabazar rented flat in the capital on February 11, 2012. Sagar was the news editor of private TV channel Maasranga and his wife Runi a senior reporter of another private TV channel ATN Bangla. Following the murder, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police started the investigation. Later, the case was shifted to the DB police. However, on April 18, 2012, the High Court in an order transferred the case to RAB for investigation as the former had expressed its inability to resolve the case.
