The commission asked Tafsir to come to the ACC head office to give his statement regarding the matter on August 31
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Tafsir Mohammed Awal, son of BNP leader Abdul Awal Mintoo, for investigation on his bank accounts in New York and London.
The national anti-graft commission launched an investigation against Tafsir over his alleged involvement in the corruption.
The commission sent him a letter in this regard, an ACC official confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
In the letter, the commission asked Tafsir to come to the ACC head office to give his statement regarding the matter on August 31.
The letter, signed by ACC director Syed Iqbal Hossain, said that if Tafsir does not appear for questioning, the ACC will consider he has no statement regarding the allegations.
The national anti-graft commission also asked him to submit some documents on that day.
Meanwhile, ACC Director Syed Iqbal Hossain also sent a letter to Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of Bangladesh Bank, asking for records related to the investigation.
Tafsir’s foreign company NFM Energy has been asked to provide two more bank account details to the ACC.
The commission also sought information on Tafsir’s financial investments abroad, according to the letter.
