ACC to probe graft allegation in purchasing N-95 masks

On April 24, the Health Ministry had also formed a committee to investigate the allegations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate allegations of corruption in the purchase of N-95 masks and personal protection equipment (PPE).

ACC Public Relations officer Pranab Kumer Bhattacharya confirmed UNB of the development on Wednesday.

The process of appointing an investigating officer was in progress, he said.

On April 24, the Health Ministry had formed a committee to investigate allegations that low-quality products were passed on as N-95 masks to some government hospitals.

After reviewing the allegation and the supplier’s response, the ministry had formed the three-member investigation committee, said a ministry press release.

Mask supplier Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) was also show-caused.

Earlier, physicians of some government hospitals, including Mugda General Hospital, complained of receiving low-quality masks.
