'The intelligence officers will collect credible information about corrupt officials and submit regular reports to the commission'
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday appointed 22 assistant director rank officers (Intelligence) to monitor corrupt officials, local godfathers, and drug dealers, in 22 districts of the country.
Sources at the ACC confirmed that an additional 8 more officers of director rank will be appointed soon to closely monitor the 22 intelligence officers.
Asked, an ACC official said: “The intelligence officers will collect credible information about corrupt officials and submit regular reports to the commission. In addition, they will also collect information about people possessing illegal wealth and submit that information to the commission.”
The ACC officials also told Dhaka Tribune that the intelligence officers then would send the information to the commission using a special secret code.
Asked about using a special secret code for sending information, ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud said:" It is safer to get information like this, as no one except us will be able to decode the message. We will be able to collect proper information about corrupt people and take immediate action against them.”
