Around 101 out of 553 applicants were illegally recruited by the port authority
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found proof against Chittagong Port Authority (CPA)for illegally recruiting more than 100 candidates for the post of traffic officer in the port.
Around101 out of the total 553 applicants were illegally selected based on their CGPA and allowed to sit for the written test for the job through an illegitimatecommittee formed by the port authority.
ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
The anti-graft body conducted a drive at the port on Tuesday following a complaint filed by one of the applicantsthrough its hotline number and found evidence of the allegations made during primary investigation.
ACC found these irregularities after primary investigations, its Deputy Director (media) Pronob Kumar Bhattachraya said.
According to ACC sources, CPA issued a vacancy announcement on January this year for the post of traffic officer.
The port authorities later formed aselection committee, out of their jurisdiction, and selected the 101 candidates illegally.
When asked for the authorization documents for the formation of such a selection committee, the port authorities failed to provide any.
A detailed report will be submitted to the commission seeking further directives regarding the matter, the ACC spokesperson further said.
