ACC interrogates hospital director for embezzling Tk250 crore

The two hospitals are Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College hospital and an unnamed 500-bed medical college hospital in Sirajganj

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has interrogated its project director on allegations of embezzling Tk250 crore in purchasing furniture and equipment for two hospitals.

Krishna Kumar Pal allegedly embezzled the amount for the Development Project Proposal's (DPP) two hospitals, confirmed ACC Deputy Director (media) Pronab Kumar Bhattacharya on Sunday.

The two hospitals are Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College hospital and an unnamed 500-bed medical college hospital in Sirajganj.

ACC Deputy Director Shahjahan Miraj interrogated Krishna for about five hours. 

He said Krishna was asked to justify his spending of Tk250 crore on various matters in connection with the purchase of furniture and equipment for these two hospital projects.

After the interrogation Krishna claimed himself innocent in front of the media.

In this regard, ACC Secretary Dilwar Bakth said: “There are allegations of corruption in the purchase of machinery for the DPP project. 

Those who were in charge of the project will also be interrogated to determine whether  procurement guidelines were properly followed or not."
