ACC sues physician, two others for corruption

The anti-graft watchdog filed the case with its Integrated District Office in Sylhet

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sued a physician of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital along with two others on allegations of embezzling an amount of Tk10 crore.

ACC Assistant Director Manjur Alam Chowdhury filed the case with the anti-graft watchdog's Integrated District Office in Sylhet on Wednesday, ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told Dhaka Tribune.

The accused are -- Dr Md Abdus Salam, former deputy director of the hospital, its former accountant Abdul Quddus Atiya, and Mirza SM Hossain alias Saddam Hussein, proprietor of MS Enterprise in Sylhet.

The case was filed for their attempt to misappropriate the amount in connivance with each other while purchasing irrelevant instrument for the hospital, Pranab said.
