A notice has been sent asking them to appear at its headquarters on November 6,7,11,12, and 13.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned 33 engineers for interrogation, who were involved in cost –related anomalies in the ongoing housing project called Green City at the RNPP project in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.

ACC Deputy Director Nasir Uddin sent a notice asking them to appear at its headquarters on November 6,7,11,12, and 13.

ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter on Sunday.

The anti-graft commission found involvement of project’s executive engineer Masudul Alam, and 50 others in the scam. They were accused of abuse of power, various irregularities, and corruption at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project (RNPP), mentioned in the notice.

Earlier, on July 15 two probe committees, formed over graft in the RNPP housing project, have found involvement of 50 people including eight engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD) in the misappropriation of Tk36.4 crore in purchasing furniture, and other household items for its officials, and other employees..

The probe bodies mentioned their findings, and recommended punishing them.

On July 2, the High Court issued a rule asking authorities concerned to answer within four weeks why they failed to ensure honesty, and transparency in purchasing furniture and other household items for the officials, and employees of the RNPP project.

On May 22, the PWD withdrew Masudul Alam, who was in charge of the housing project. He was later attached to the PWD headquarters in Dhaka.

The housing project started on July 19, 2016 and is supposed to be completed by mid-2022.
