ACC to sue 3 Janata Bank officials over graft

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to lodge a case against three officials of the state-run Janata Bank Limited on charges of embezzlement worth Taka 2.35 crore.

Patuakhali regional office Janata Bank’ssenior officer, Md Golam Azam, second officer of Natunbazar branch, Meer Jalaluddin, and its former SEO (senior executive officer) Md Nazrul Islam will be sued in the case, as ACC has found their involvement in misusing the money, reports BSS.

Of them, Azam was the former manager of Janata Bank’s Natunbazar branch in Patuakhali.

ACC will file the case against the three under sections 409/420/109 of the Penal Code and 5(2) of the Corruption Prevention Act, 2947.

The money was misappropriated through distribution of loans in the name of fake people, said an official release.
