The interrogation went on for almost four hours

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has interrogated Ha-Meem Group MD AK Azad over allegations of amassing illegal wealth.

Azad came to the ACC office around 9:30am on Tuesday.

He was interrogated by ACC Director Jainul Abedin. Assistant Director Public Relations (PR) of ACC Pranab Kumar confirmed the news.

The interrogation ended around 1:30pm.

Earlier, AK Azad was summoned twice by the ACC, but he submitted a written appeal seeking more time before appearing in front of the ACC officials.

AK Azad is a former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and is also the owner of two media outlets – Dainik Samakal and the Channel 24.

He is one of the directors of Shahjalal Islami Bank. The Ha-Meem Group's ventures range from garments, packaging, and tea to the transport business.

On March 20, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) demolished Azad's house in Gulshan on Road 86.

Later, he issued a press statement saying Rajuk representatives started demolishing his house even after they were shown legal documents of his ownership.
