DPDC fines Tk2.5cr over corruption
The authorities of the company have operated an anti-corruption drive at Motijheel, Adabor, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Kakrail, Maniknagar, Khilgaon, Shyampur and Narayanganj and found that 800,000 units electricity were being stolen from the areas. Joyonto Kumar Shikder, secretary of DPDC, said: “The corruption is taking place because people are not aware of the law of the country. We are trying to create awareness among the users. We will continue the drive to stop the corrupted users and ensure punishment to the illegal power users as per the law of the country.” A total of 48 illegal connections were cancelled during the drive.
