Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said on Monday that the total number of registered Mobile Financial Services (MFS) accounts in the country stood at 239.3 million in January 2025, of which about 42% were held by women.

“MFS is playing an important role in building a cashless society, establishing financial governance, and increasing the scope of financial inclusion,” he said while presenting the proposed national budget for FY26 through a speech aired on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

Salehuddin added that banking services are reaching people in remote areas through mobile financial services, which are playing a crucial role in sending money instantly, receiving various government social safety net allowances, paying service bills, receiving remittances, and accessing various financial services easily.

Notably, Salehuddin presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.
