Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mobile courts on Monday fined owners of seven under-construction buildings and houses Tk1.9 lakh during a drive to destroy breeding grounds of mosquitoes in the city corporation area.
During the drive, DSCC's 10 mobile courts visited 87 houses, establishments and under-construction buildings and filed four cases and fined total Tk1,09,500 for finding Aedes mosquito larvae, carrier of dengue and chikungunya, in seven of those, read a press release.
More intensified and larger drive will be conducted on Tuesday in 10 regions under DSCC simultaneously.

Along with the campaign, public awareness activities are continuing in various wards of the corporation.
Health authorities said 123 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in the 24 hours to Monday morning amid a spike in the mosquito-borne disease that spreads mainly during monsoon.
Across Bangladesh, some 468 patients diagnosed with dengue are receiving treatment as of Monday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Most cases have been reported in Dhaka.
