IBC demands minimum garment worker wage to be Tk23,000
They have decided to unite in front of the National Press Club and the Ministry of Labour and Employment on February 5 in this regard
President of IndustriALL Bangladesh Council (IBC) Amirul Haque Amin urged all to unite to demand the minimum wage of garment workers to be Tk23,000.
He said this at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Thursday.
Amirul said that in the Tk23,000 wage, over 65% should be basic salary and the annual increment should be 10%.
He added that the current seven grades should be brought down to five.
“We will unite in front of the National Press Club and the Ministry of Labour and Employment on February 5,” Amirul said.
Kutum Uddin Ahmed, general secretary of IBC, said: “We think our demanded wages are reasonable. Hopefully, the government and the owners will accept our demand as reasonable and form the wage board.”
