The accused in a rape case and a Jubo League leader allegedly threatened the plaintiff to withdraw the case in Jamalpur's Islampur upazila.

The plaintiff of the rape case made a general diary (GD) against Islampur upazila Sapdhari union Jubo League President Masud Rana Lebu and his brother Suruzzaman in the case at Islampur police station on Wednesday night.

According to GD sources, the rape victim's mother filed a rape case at Islampur police station on June 7 last year. The case is ongoing in court.

Since the filing of the case, accused Suruzzaman and Masud Rana Lebu along with their family have been threatening to kill them to withdraw the case.

Sources said, the accused had previously attacked the victim's house with local weapons and filed a false case in the name of the plaintiff's son. The accused and his family members had threatened to file more false cases if the case is not withdrawn.

The plaintiff in the case confirmed the threats by the accused, adding: “The victim became pregnant following the rape but her child died upon birth.”

Jubo League leader Masud denied threatening the victim's family.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Islampur police station Majedur Rahman said: "The house of the plaintiff and the accused are nearby. We have sent the DNA test report of the previous case to the court. Action will be taken following investigation."
