Dhaka Nagar Paribahan: 100 buses on 2 routes launched
The buses, 50 each, will be operated from Ghatarchar to Demra Staff Quarter and Ghatarchar to Kadamtoli routes
A total of 100 more Dhaka Nagar Paribahan buses have been launched in two new routes.
The buses, 50 each, will be operated from Ghatarchar to Demra Staff Quarter and Ghatarchar to Kadamtoli routes.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated the service from Basila in the capital on Thursday.
The Bus Route Rationalization Committee (BRCC) was formed under the leadership of DSCC mayor on September 9, 2018 to restore order in the capital's public transport service.
The committee rearranged the bus routes of Dhaka city into 42 routes.
On December 26 last year, the first Dhaka Nagar Paribahan started on the new route number 21 from Ghatarchar to Kanchpur.
At that time the service was started with a total of 50 green colored buses.
In continuation of this, the two new routes have been launched with 100 buses.
The BRRC took around 10 months to add two new routes to the service.
Out of these 100 buses, there are 50 new buses of Nagar Paribahan and 50 buses of BRTC.
The route no 22 includes — Ghatarchar, Washpur, Basila CNG stand, Mohammadpur bus stand, Town Hall, Asadgate, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Banglamotor, Shahbagh, Kakrail, Fakirapool, Motijheel, Tikatuli, Kazla, Konapara and Staff Quarter. Besides, the buses will be operated on the flyover from Tikatuli to Kazla.
The route no 26 includes — Ghatarchar, Basila, Basila CNG stand, Mohammadpur bus stand Town Hall, Asadgate, Sobhanbag, Kalabagan, Sciencelab, New Market (Nilkhet), Azimpur, Palashi, Chankharpool, Postogola, and Pagla.
Besides, the buses will be operated on the flyover from Chankharpool to Postogola in this route.
Around 70 bus stops have already been constructed to operate the bus service.
