Awami League issues show cause notice to Dhaka south city unit general secretary

He was ordered to explain his remarks in 15 days

Awami League issued a show-cause notice to its Dhaka south city unit’s General Secretary Humayun Kabir on Friday for addressing party members inappropriately at a program two days ago.

A video shows Humayun Kabir ordering party men to stop chanting slogans using offensive language at a program held on Wednesday.

Awami League’s central leaders were also present on the stage at that time.

Later, on Friday, Humayun Kabir organized another program in Dhaka’s Chawkbazar area, even after Awami League instructed him not to.

When asked Awami League’s Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua told Dhaka Tribune: “Dhaka south city unit’s general secretary has received a show cause letter from me on Friday evening as he violated the party’s constitution.”

He added Humayun Kabir was asked to explain himself in 15 days.

When asked Humayun Kabir told Dhaka Tribune: “The party can issue a show cause notice to anybody any time.”
