3 detained for protesting fuel price hike in Savar
They tried to block a road in the area
The police have detained three people who were trying to blockade a road in Ashulia of Savar in protest of the government’s decision to hike up the price of fuel oils.
Biplob, 29, Russell, 28, and Ali Reza, 26, were detained at Simultala bus station on Saturday morning. All three are either drivers or assistants of different buses.
They had been detained as they had tried to block a road in the area, Raju Mandal, sub-inspector (SI) of Ashulia police station, said.
The government on Friday announced that it had raised all fuel oil prices, which came into effect on Saturday.
Now the price of diesel and kerosene per litre at the consumer level is Tk114, octane Tk135, and petrol Tk130.
