Maritime ports asked to hoist danger signal 3

Light to moderate rain is likely to occur over the next two days

The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to hoist cautionary signal three due to deep convection over the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas in Bangladesh.

“All fishing boats and trawlers over the north bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice,” a Met Office bulletin said on Wednesday. 

Moreover, river ports have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal one. 

Until 6pm, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or south-easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Kushtia, Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet, the Met Office statement read. 

The Met Office also predicts light to moderate rain across the country over the next two days. 

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country as monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere over North Bay.
