State minister: Flood damage amounts to 87,000C
Damages include partial and total damages of bridges, roads, schools, colleges, madrasas, mosques, temples and dams
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman said that this year the floods across the country resulted in a damage of Tk86,811,65,59,872.
He made the remarks while briefing the journalists after the meeting of the "Inter-Ministerial Disaster Management Coordination Committee" regarding the review and determination of the recent floods, damages, held at Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.
Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Md Kamrul Hasan, along with senior officials, were present at the time.
The state minister said: “The estimated total value of damaged crops is Tk1,258,53,91,112 while the total value of damaged houses is Tk364,84,50,043.”
He said, in this way, total and partial damage to bridges/culverts, paved roads, brick-built roads, unpaved roads, primary schools, high schools, colleges, madrasas, community schools, mosques, temples and dams is estimated to be Tk86,811,65,59,872.
Enamur Rahman said: “To help the victims of flood and other natural calamities, the government has provided 7,020 metric ton rice, Tk9,44,00,000 cash, 1,40,132 packets food, Tk40,00,000 for purchasing baby food, Tk40,00,000 for purchasing cattle food, Tk2,61,00,000 for housing, and 8,700 bundles of tin on April 1-July 21.”
