Some places may witness light rain

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted that there is no fear of heavy rainfall in Bangladesh till June 28.

“The country is likely to see less rainfall till June 28 (Tuesday). However, after that, rainfall across the country may increase again,” Assistant Meteorologist Afroza Sultana told Bangla Tribune.

She noted that there is no fear of heavy rainfall in the next three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) but some places may witness light rain.

Meanwhile, there may be temporary gusting of 45-60kmph in some parts of the country by 1am on Friday. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist cautionary signal no 1.

In its 24-hour bulletin issued on Thursday, BMD reported: “The monsoon axis runs through Bihar, West Bengal and thence northeastwards to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.”

It added: “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country.”

Meanwhile, say and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged across Bangladesh.
