Bangladeshi student wins International Leader of Tomorrow award

He is one of 25 students chosen out of thousands of applicants globally

A Bangladeshi student has won the prestigious International Leader of Tomorrow (ILOT) award from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada – a full-ride scholarship to cover his tuition fee, along with a portion of his other expenses.

Ridan Mehran Mahbub, a student of DPS STS School Dhaka, will receive specialized support and leadership opportunities throughout the course of his university stay and will be representing Bangladesh through leadership roles within the student body and clubs, according to a press release issued on Thursday. 

Ridan is one of the 25 students chosen out of thousands of applicants globally, recognizing his superior academic achievements, exceptional leadership skills, involvement in student affairs and active participation within community services.

Besides this, Ridan has exhibited excellent leadership qualities throughout his high school life at DPS, with leading roles in DPS Model UN Club and the DPS Business Republic, all while maintaining an exceptional academic record. 

He was also the general secretary of DPS Economics Summit and licensee and curator of [email protected] 

Moreover, he is the founder and CEO of Project Purple - a renowned youth-run platform that works against the stigma around mental health in Bangladesh, and the president of Ascension Foundation - a charity initiative that works for poverty alleviation. He is also the founder and CEO of ShoBazaar - Bangladesh's first ecommerce platform specifically designed for online stores and emerging startups.
