Mild heat wave to continue across Bangladesh

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country

The ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue at some places in the country, said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin valid for 24 hours commencing 9am on Thursday.

"Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Madaripur, Tangail, Chandpur, Rajshahi, Khulna,Satkhira, Jessore and Bagerhat and it may continue," said the bulletin.

"Rain or thunder showers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Chittagong division and at one or two places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over north northeastern part of the country," it added

However, the day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 37.2°C at Khulna, while the minimum temperature today was recorded at 21.0°C at Srimangal.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am on Thursday was recorded at 104 mm at Srimangal.

The sun will set at 6:36pm on Thursday and rise at 5:14am on Friday in the capital.
