Dhaka ranks world’s sixth most populous city

Population has increased by 3.39% since last year

The capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka, has ranked the sixth most populous city in the world, says a latest report by World Population Review. 

With a density of 23,234 people per square kilometer, the current metro area population of Dhaka is 22,478,116, as of 2022.

The capital city, which is about 300 square kilometers in size, has seen a 3.39% increase in population from 2021. 

The most populated city is Tokyo, in Japan, with a total population of 37,435,191. 

The second most populated city is India’s capital Delhi, with a population of 29,399,141, following China’s Shanghai, with a population of 26,317,104, according to the report.
