Dengue: 32 more hospitalized in 24 hrs

As many as 32 new dengue patients were hospitalised in the 24 hours until Friday morning, health authorities have said.

The number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease remained unchanged at 98 in the current year as no fresh death was reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the deaths, 90 people died in Dhaka division alone, two each in Chattogram, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions, and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal divisions.

Of the newly hospitalized patients, 25 are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, while the remaining seven cases were reported from outside the division.

A total 294 patients diagnosed with dengue were receiving treatment in the country as of Friday. They include 216 patients receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital, while the remaining 78 were listed outside Dhaka.

Since January, 27,483 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue in the country. So far, 27,091 dengue patients have left hospitals after recovery, said DGHS.
