Child killed after truck hits rickshaw in Gulshan

A four-year-old was killed after a truck hit a rickshaw in Dhaka’s Gulshan.

The incident was reported from the U-turn in front of the American Embassy late on Sunday night, confirmed Dhaka Medical College Police out-post In-Charge Bacchu Mia.

The deceased has been identified as Rehan, a resident of the capital’s Shahajadpur.

His father Abdur Rahim and Shahzadi Begum and sister Rahi, 6, were also injured in the accident. 

According to Gulshan Police Sub-Inspector Nazrul Islam, the rickshaw was hit by a goods-laden truck at the U-turn in front of the American Embassy late on Sunday.

The family was heading towards their Badda residence from Notun Bazar. The four fell upon impact and sustained severe injuries.

The family was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Rehan succumbed to his injuries, SI Islam said.
