Kazi Arifuzzaman, a Bangladeshi photographer, has won the prestigious photography contest of the Nature Conservancy, an organization based in the United States.
Hailing from Brahmanbaria, Kazi Arifuzzaman (Rozel Kazi) won the best photograph in the “water” category for the year 2021, read a press release.
After completing his Honors and Masters from Brahmanbaria Government College, Kazi has taken up photography as his hobby.
The winning photo shows water running from an irrigation pump in the foreground with the silhouette of a farmer walking in the background.
In the water category, Mexico won the second prize and Hongkong the third.
In addition to water, there were three more categories - landscape, people and nature, and wildlife.

Photographers from 158 countries submitted more than 100,000 photos for the competition, read the release.
Expressing his feelings about winning the award, Kazi Arifuzzaman said that he has won awards from different countries before. His photos have been published in various magazines in the world and have been displayed in exhibitions.
However, the feeling of winning the first place in this event is different, this achievement is especially gratifying for him, read the release.
The organization, The Nature Conservancy, was founded in 1951 in the United States.
The Nature Conservancy is working to tackle the dual threats of accelerated climate change and unprecedented biodiversity loss. They are also trying to increase and stabilize various opportunities for the global community.
