The daily infection rate edges up to 7.69%
Bangladesh reported 41 fresh fatalities from Covid-19 while the caseload jumped by 1,953 in the 24 hours to 8am on Monday.
As many as 25,388 samples were tested across the country for a positivity rate of 7.69%.
The seven-day moving average of single-day deaths dropped further to 49.14 on Monday, from 52.57 the previous day.
Bangladesh’s overall fatality from the coronavirus now stands at 26, 972 with a caseload of 1,532,366.
According to figures by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), another 4,112 patients recovered in 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 1,482,933.

Dhaka and Chittagong divisions counted highest 14 deaths each among the eight divisions.
Six deaths were reported in Khulna, three in Rajshahi, two in Mymensingh, and one each in Sylhet and Barisal.
Of the new patients, Dhaka logged 1,316 cases, the highest among the divisions, followed by Chittagong with 197.
The infection rate against all tests conducted in the country to date stands at 16.53%.
Meanwhile, the latest figures have put the recovery rate at 96.77% and the mortality rate at 1.76%.

Around 20.92 million people in the country have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine; of them, some 13.85 million have taken both doses, latest DGHS data show.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a strain of coronavirus later named Sars-CoV-2, on March 8 last year. The first death was reported 10 days later.
The fast-spreading coronavirus has so far claimed over 4.64 million lives and infected more than 225.5 million people throughout the world till Monday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
More than 202.2 million people have recovered from the disease, which has affected 222 countries and territories across the planet.
