Met Office predicts light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3 as a low pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay and adjoining areas of Bangladesh.
"Under its influence, a steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and adjoining areas. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North-Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh," said a Met Office bulletin on Tuesday.
Besides, all fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
Light to moderate rain likely
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Tuesday also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9am.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Sylhet divisions, as well as a few other places with moderately heavy falls over the country," said another bulletin.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.
The maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 36.2°C in Sylhet while Tuesday’s minimum temperature 24°C was recorded at Tetulia in Rangpur.
Maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6am on Tuesday was recorded 24 millimeters at Srimangal in Sylhet.
