UNFCCC chief says timely submission of NDCs during the Covid-19 pandemic is undoubtedly commendable
Executive Secretary of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Patricia Espionosa has congratulated Bangladesh due to its timely submission of an updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
She also greeted Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin for his contribution to addressing climate change impacts in Bangladesh.
In a letter dated August 30, the UNFCCC congratulated Bangladesh on its timely submission of an updated NDC with its commitment to cut greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement on Climate Change, a ministry press release said.
The UNFCCC chief said the timely submission of NDCs during the ongoing global crisis like the Covid-19 pandemic is undoubtedly commendable.

She lauded Bangladesh for its significant commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and for increasing targets in various fields.
Espionosa particularly mentioned the inclusion of the implementation measures taken to address climate change impacts and improved adaptation issues in the NDC.
She also expressed gratitude to Shahab Uddin for his leadership for the inclusion of the strategic plan and the sustainable action on climate change in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement in the NDC.
Espionosa assured Bangladesh of increased cooperation in the future climate change activities for working together for the maximum implementation of the Paris Climate Change Agreement and wished for the success of the forthcoming Climate Conference.
