More 686 test positive in 24 hours
A total of 686 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all eight districts in the division on Wednesday, taking the caseload to 86,721 since the pandemic began, the health department sources said here Thursday.
With 15 more Covid-19 related fatalities, reported on the same day, the death toll reached 1,384 here including 579 in Bogura, 253 in Rajshahi with 149 in its city and 143 in Chapainawabganj, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.
The new daily infection figure is almost similar to the previous day's figure of 685.
Among the infected people, 63,896 have, so far, been cured from the deadly virus with 648 new recoveries reported on the day.
A total of 12,754 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.
Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 20,188 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 13,886 have by now been released.
On the other hand, 582 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 383 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8am Thursday.
Of the total positive cases, the highest 218 were detected in Sirajganj, followed by 123 in Rajshahi, including 79 in its city, 109 in Pabna, 105 in Bogra, 68 in Natore, 35 in Chapainawabganj, 15 in Joypurhat, and 13 in Naogaon districts.
With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 24,945 in Rajshahi, including 20,024 in its city, 5,160 in Chapainawabganj, 6,032 in Naogaon, 7,190 in Natore, 4,258 in Joypurhat, 19,393 in Bogura, 9,137 in Sirajganj and 10,606 in Pabna.
A total of 1,02,748 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus.
Of them, 91,990 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
Meanwhile, the surge of Covid-19 cases has been continuing in all the eight districts of the division since the beginning of the second wave making it a hotspot of the deadly virus.
