Tk10 lakh was realised from 441 vehicles as fines
Police on Friday arrested 403 people from the capital on the first day of the 14-day strict lockdown imposed by the government to contain spread of Covid-19 cases.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Iftekharul Islam said that the persons had been arrested for roaming unnecessarily.
Meanwhile, mobile courts fined 203 people and realized Tk1.3 lakh.
On the other hand, DMP's traffic division realised a fine of over Tk10 lakh from 441 vehicles.

The government will enforce the nation-wide strict restrictions till August 5 with restrictions on movement and closure of all offices, mass transports, shops and industries to contain coronavirus infections.
The health authorities reported 166 fatalities and 6,364 new cases on Friday, with Dhaka being the worst affected among the eight divisions.
As of now, the total number of deaths has reached 18,851 while the caseload stands at 1,146,564, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
