The deceased were members of a family travelling to Chaddagram Cheora for some essential work
Three members of a family, including a child, died in Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway after a truck hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw on Tuesday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Md Hanif, resident of Siziara village in Dhalua union of Nangalkot upazila, his daughter Merry Begun and her child Mehzabin, Chauddagram Fire Service and Civil Defence In-Charge Yeasin Pradhania confirmed the matter.
According to local sources, Md Hanif, his daughter Merry and granddaughter Mehzabin were travelling to Chauddagram Cheora from Nangalkot for some essential work. Around 3:45pm, a truck driver lost control and hit the CNG that was transporting the family from behind while they were exiting.
The three members of the family died on the spot. The drivers of the vehicles were injured.
Local residents, Miabazar Highway police and Chauddagram Fire Service workers immediately rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and took them to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex. Police seized the vehicles.
