The Awami League leader suffered a cardiac arrest
Awami League lawmaker from Dhaka-14 constituency Aslamul Haque Aslam has passed away at a hospital in Dhaka.
Aslamul, also a leader of Dhaka North City Awami League, breathed his last around midday on Sunday.
Confirming the matter, President of Dhaka North City Awami League Sheikh Bazlur Rahman said Aslamul had a cardiac arrest.
Aslamul, born in May 14, 1961, was an entrepreneur, businessman and politician, who served as the parliament member for Dhaka-14 constituency since 2008.
He was the founder and chairman of Maisha Group.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the ruling party MP, reports UNB.
She prayed for eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
In separate condolence messages, Jatiyo Sangshad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Social Welfare Minister Md Nuruzzaman, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Md Murad Hasan, State Minister for Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Social Welfare Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed sorrow at the lawmaker’s passing as well, as reported by BSS.
