Special prayers would be offered overnight
In line with their annual ritual, Muslims in Bangladesh as in the rest of the world are all set to observe the holy Shab-e-Meraj on Thursday night, by offering special prayers overnight and amid due religious fervour.
On the 27th of the Arabic month of Rajab every year, the Muslim community observe the occasion, the night when Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) embarked on a special journey to meet the Almighty Allah.
According to Islam, the prophet (PBUH) was transported from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, from where he ascended to Heaven.
In the journey, He travelled on the “Buraq” (a swift four-legged animal) to Heaven where the Almighty gave him some instructions to take back to the faithful regarding the details of prayers.
On the occasion, Muslims will offer special prayers at mosques and homes across the country seeking blessings of the Almighty, for the welfare of the entire nation and the Muslim ummah.
