Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed on Thursday said general people will also benefit in various ways through the welfare-oriented initiatives which have been undertaken considering the welfare of the members of Bangladesh Police.
The IGP came up with the comment while inaugurating the newly-decorated Polwel Carnation Shopping Center in Uttara as the chief guest on Thursday afternoon.
Bangladesh Police Co-operative Society Limited has renovated and beautified the shopping center.
Polwel is an organization of Bangladesh Police Co-operative Society Ltd. A number of commercial organizations are run under Polwel.
“Considering the welfare of the members of Bangladesh Police, various welfare oriented initiatives have been taken. As a result of all these initiatives, besides the police, the general public will also benefit in many ways,” the IGP said.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Director General and Polwel Managing Director Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Polwel officials and senior police officials were present on the occasion.
The IGP said Polwel has a lot of business potential. The company needs to increase its revenue and reduce expenses by expanding the organisation rapidly.
The IGP directed all concerned to make the organization (Polwel) more profitable.
He said the revenue of Polwell and Police Welfare Trust is being spent for welfare of police personnel engaged in the service of the country and the people.
