Train runs over man in Narsingdi
At least six people were killed and five others injured in separate road crashes in Dhaka, Narsingdi, and Gazipur on Saturday.
In Dhaka, a man was killed and another injured when a laguna collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw in front of a match-stick factory in the Kadamtali area of the capital this morning.
The deceased was identified as Mubarak Hossain, 28, of Chauddakot area in Debiddhar upazila of the Comilla district, while the injured was Pappu, 20.
Kadamtali police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Mahbubul Haque told BSS that the accident took place in front of the mosque adjacent to the match factory under the Kadamtali thana at around 9am, leaving Mubarak dead on the spot and injuring Pappu.
The deceased was a worker at the Shampur Aliraj Steel Mill, he added.
In Narsingdi, three people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Monohardi upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mamun, 30, from Kishoreganj, Achia Begum, 60, from Shibpur upazila of the district, and Aleya Begum, 60, from Satirpara area of Narsingdi Sadar upazila.
Two passengers including Alamin, 40, and Shahidul Islam, 50, were seriously injured in the incident. They were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical treatment.
Monohardi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Anisur Rahman said the deadly truck fled the scene after the accident. However, police are trying to seize the truck as soon as possible.
Train runs over man in Narsingdi
Another man died being crushed under a train in Narsingdi’s Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The accident took place at the Basail Railgate area of the upazila around 12pm.
Narsingdi Railway police outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Imaedul Jihadi confirmed the matter.
The deceased Khorshed Alam, 36, was a resident of Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh. He worked as a supervisor in a factory in Narsingdi Sadar.
In Gazipur, a man was killed and two more injured in a motorcycle accident at Sreepur area on Saturday.
The deceased Arafat Hossain, 25, from Sherpur, was riding his motorcycle, with two more pillions in the back, when it hit a jackfruit tree around 5:30pm at Yugirchit area of Kawraid-Jaina Bazar road in the upazila.
Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandaker Imam Hossain confirmed the incident.
Arafat was an employee at Badsha Textile Factory in the Jamirdia Masterbari area of Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh.
