Case investigation officer failed to submit the findings on Tuesday
A Dhaka court has fixed March 21 for the submission of the investigation report in the case of rape and murder of a teenage girl in the capital's Kalabagan.
Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara passed the order on Tuesday, reports Bangla Tribune citing Kalabagan police sources.
The court set the new date as the case investigation officer and Kalabagan police Inspector AFM Asaduzzaman failed to submit the report Tuesday.
Earlier, on January 8, accused Fardin Iftekhar Dihan had confessed in court to committing the crime. He was then sent to jail.
According to the case statement, on January 7, the victim left her house around 11:45am after informing her mother over the phone that she was going to a coaching class.
Dihan called the mother at 1:18pm and said her daughter had gone to his house in Kalabagan’s Lake Circus area and fallen sick.
Dihan asked her to go to the emergency department of Anwer Khan Modern Hospital, saying her daughter was taken there.
After arriving at the hospital, the mother learned from the on-duty doctor that her daughter died following rape, said the case statement.
The victim’s parents later learnt that Dihan had asked their daughter to go to his flat, which was empty save for his presence, as the other members of his family were out at the time. After he raped the girl, Dihan took her to the hospital when she started to bleed profusely.
Later that night, the girl’s father filed the case against him at Kalabagan police station.
