Police on Tuesday recovered the hanging body of a woman from a development facility in Gazipur.
The deceased was identified as Nazma Akter, 20, according to Basan police station Inspector (Investigation) Sheikh Mizanur Rahman.
He said: “Nazma was recently shifted to the women, children and juvenile development centre located in Bhogra on December 22 from another facility in Gazipur following a case filed with the Shah Ali police station.
“When all the inmates were instructed to come down by the authorities from their rooms at around 11am today, Nazma stayed back saying that she had a headache.”
“Later, around 1:15pm, when the inmates were returning to their individual rooms, they saw Nazma’s body hanging near room No 303 on the third floor of the building.”
“After being informed, we rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the deceased and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
“Appropriate legal action will be taken over the incident.”
