Nine militants surrender to law enforcement

They surrendered before Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed at an event at RAB headquarters on Thursday

Nine active members of different militant organizations in the country have surrendered to law enforcement, paving the way for them to live a normal life. 

They surrendered before Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed at an event at RAB headquarters on Thursday.

After their surrender, the home minister handed the former militants to their respective families, reports Bangla Tribune.

At the event, RAB said that like other countries in the world, they have worked to bring the militants back to normalcy militancy by de-radicalizing them through the proper process and extinguishing their extremist ideology through long-term counseling.

Among those who surrendered, six were former JMB operatives while the rest were from Ansar Al Islam.

The surrendered militants are- Shaon Muntaha Ibn Shawkat, 34, Dr Nusrat Ali Juhi, 29, Asma alias Ramisa, 18, Mohammad Hossain Hasan Gazi, 23, Md Saifullah, 38, Md Saiful Islam, 31, Md Abdullah Al Mamun, 26, Saidur Rahman, 22, and Abdur Rahman Sohel, 28.
