Veteran journalist and freedom fighter Khondaker Ataul Haque, a permanent member of the National Press Club, has passed away.
The 73-year-old breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
He was admitted to the hospital on December 13 with fever and had later tested positive for Covid-19. He was also suffering from respiratory diseases.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and numerous relatives, friends, colleagues and admirers.
Khondaker Ataul Haque was writing a book to highlight the eventful history of the Liberation War. He was also the acting editor of the fortnightly Alor Michil magazine.
National Press Club President Saiful Alam and General Secretary Farida Yasmin in a statement expressed condolences over the death of Khandaker Ataul Haque. They also expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
